Play time

Trinity College London will hold its International Festival of Playwriting and Performance at the St James Theatre in London from 7-10 May 2014 – and it’s an opportunity to inspire and challenge young people’s creativity like few others.

For secondary schools, Wednesday 7th is the day to focus on, providing opportunities to see the winning play for teenage audiences from Trinity’s 2013-14 International Playwriting Competition, take part in a workshop run with support from Shakespeare’s Globe, practise writing a theatre review and also see a performance from the 2013 Shakespeare Schools Festival. The day has been designed to link both to GCSE English literature and GCSE drama.

Tickets to these activities are free for schools - but spaces are limited and booking is required. To book tickets or for more specific academic information, contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

There’s more, too – each day will feature matinee and evening performances of past and present winning plays from Trinity’s playwriting competition, as well as a number of other activities. Thursday 8 May is a Writers Day, with activities aimed at playwrights and creative writers, and Saturday 10 May is the Playwriting Gala. Find out more at trinitycollege.co.uk/festival.
