Calling all English teachers! The education charity Into Film in partnership with the Victoria and Albert Museum is holding a series of free screenings enhanced by visits to the museum’s collections and displays to give pupils new insights into KS 3-5 English curriculum texts and support GCSE revision.

Students will watch the films in the V&A accompanied by a post-film discussion hosted by Into Film, and will then be invited to explore the museum further. Each screening will be supported by a curriculum-linked resource featuring a PowerPoint presentation, teachers’ notes and a range of activities designed to deepen pupils’ understanding of the text and develop key skills including evaluation, analysis and creation. As well as helping with the set texts by examining the films, the resources will take a closer look at the museum collections including the National Video Archive of Performance (NVAP), to enable students to fully immerse themselves in the stories being told.

Screenings, free of charge, must be pre-booked by calling the V&A on 020 7942 2211. Groups can be any size and trips can be tailored to either morning or afternoon:

12 Feb - Romeo and Juliet

12 March - Pride and Prejudice

2 April - Much Ado About Nothing

14 May - Great Expectations

11 June - Twelfth Night

Schools can also participate in Reel to Real remotely by setting up an Into Film Club at www.intofilm.org/schools-film-clubs and ordering the films from the Into Film catalogue. The accompanying resources – commencing with Romeo and Juliet - will be available for all schools to download in advance at http://www.filmclub.org/resources/#id/48
