FLL (the FIRST® LEGO® League competition) is a global science and technology competition with over 250,000 young people taking part each year. Teams of up to ten young people, aged nine to 16 years, work together to explore a given scientific topic – and plan, program and test an autonomous robot to solve a set of missions, demonstrating core values that include ‘gracious professionalism’ and, ahem, ‘coopertition®’ as they do so. There’s still time to enter for this year’s challenge, which has the theme of ‘Nature’s Fury’; expect storms, quakes, waves and the chance to pit human ingenuity against the awesome power of the planet itself.
