Young people across the UK are being urged to sign up to a major technology event in Wales this summer to find out how their skills can be utilised in the digital economy and how educators and employers can maximise their potential.
A ‘digital skills’ day at Digital 2014 – a free two-day technology event at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport - will bring together young people and educators with global technology firms and employers on June 9th 2014 to discuss the challenges and opportunities for young people as they progress through the education system and into the workplace.
The event is aiming to inspire a new tech-savvy generation to aspire to be future Zuckerburgs by bringing key players from the world of ICT to Wales to help shape their vision.
Among the speakers at the event is Gianni O’Connor, a 22-year-old set to become Britain’s latest social media millionaire through his music-sharing platform Mozrt. Gianni got the idea thanks to a flash of inspiration in a finance exam at university and will be on-hand to share his experiences with delegates.Other technology organisations, including TeenTech,Young Rewired State and Student Beans will be present, along with potential employers from global technology firms.
